Agatha Christie's Tommy & Tuppence
Agatha Christie's Tommy & Tuppence is the first contemporary, English-language adaptation of Christie's playful detective duo. Antonia Thomas plays Tuppence, an actress, and Josh Dylan plays Tommy Beresford, a crime writer who's lost his spark — a couple who fall in and out of love as readily as they tumble into mysteries, now set in present-day Hampstead. Imelda Staunton plays Tommy's Aunt Ada, a retired private detective, with writing by Phoebe Eclair-Powell throughout the six-episode season. The first two episodes premiered on BritBox in the US and Canada on September 15, 2026 — timed to Agatha Christie's own birthday — with the rest of the season following weekly.

About the show
Tommy and Tuppence Beresford first appeared in Agatha Christie's 1922 novel The Secret Adversary, and went on to feature in four more books and stories through Postern of Fate (1973). This BritBox series is the first time any Christie property has been reimagined as a contemporary, English-language series — a 1983 London Weekend Television series and a 2015 BBC series, Partners in Crime, both kept the story in its original period setting. The series is written by Phoebe Eclair-Powell (her first TV series commission) and produced by Lookout Point, part of BBC Studios, in association with Agatha Christie Limited. Fergus O'Brien directed the first four episodes and Ellie Heydon the final two, with Stella Merz producing.

The Season at a Glance
Tommy & Tuppence runs a single season so far. Here's how it's structured, kept spoiler-light.

What Makes the Series Special
The First Contemporary Christie Adaptation
Earlier screen versions of Tommy and Tuppence — a 1983 London Weekend Television series and the BBC's 2015 Partners in Crime — kept the stories in their original period setting. This is the first time any Agatha Christie property has been reimagined as a present-day, English-language series.
Drawn From Five Christie Works
The series draws on Agatha Christie's Tommy and Tuppence novels and short stories: The Secret Adversary (1922), Partners in Crime (1929), N or M? (1941), By the Pricking of My Thumbs (1968), and Postern of Fate (1973).
Premiered on Christie's Birthday
BritBox scheduled the US premiere for September 15, 2026, timed deliberately to land on Agatha Christie's own birthday.
Setting and Filming Locations
Hampstead, North London
The series is set in present-day Hampstead, in north London, and was filmed on location in and around London. British TV Hub has not been able to verify specific filming locations such as named buildings or pubs beyond what the story itself depicts.
