Unforgotten

6 Seasons Cold Cases Crime Drama Emotional Ensemble

A cold-case unit reopens decades-old murders, slowly drawing together the lives of strangers whose pasts are bound to a single long-buried crime. What sets Unforgotten apart is its compassion — it's as interested in grief, guilt, and the weight of secrets as in whodunit. Nicola Walker's DCI Cassie Stuart anchored the early seasons with extraordinary warmth; the writing is quietly devastating throughout. Unforgotten streams via PBS in the US — see British TV Hub's guide to British TV streaming services for how that compares to BritBox and Acorn TV.

About the show

Chris Lang created and has personally written every episode of Unforgotten, while director Andy Wilson has helmed every single one across the show's run — a rare feat of creative continuity for a returning drama. Nicola Walker and Sanjeev Bhaskar led the investigations for the first four series as DCI Cassie Stuart and DI Sunny Khan; when Walker's character exited, Sinéad Keenan stepped in as DCI Jess James opposite Bhaskar, who has remained the one constant across all six series so far. The show is filmed on location across the UK for each new cold case and has already been renewed through a seventh series.
