Three years into the job now, Grace Ellis, Tommy Foster, and Annie Conlon are back for a fourth run, and the pressures of frontline policing in Belfast haven't let up. Filming wrapped earlier this year and the season is expected on BritBox this autumn, though an exact date hasn't been confirmed yet.
The response team gears up for another season on Belfast's streets.
The biggest headline is Richard Dormer's return as Gerry Cliff, whose character was killed in the show's very first series. His murder trial in Season 4 exposes a long-buried secret that causes chaos inside the police and across Belfast's criminal underworld, in a flashback-driven episode revisiting unresolved events from the past.
Nathan Braniff returns as Tommy Foster.
Alongside the main trio, a good chunk of the show's wider Belfast ensemble is back too: Joanne Crawford as Helen McNally, Andi Osho as Sandra, Frank Blake as Shane, Abigail McGibbon as Tina, Dearbháile McKinney as Aisling, and Andrea Irvine as Nicola. Cathy Tyson and Michael Smiley also return in their season three roles as club owner Dana Morgan and intelligence officer Paul "Colly" Collins.
Martin McCann returns as Sergeant Stevie Neil.

About the show
Blue Lights was created by Declan Lawn and Adam Patterson, former BBC investigative journalists who previously wrote The Salisbury Poisonings and drew on their own years living in Belfast for the show's post-Troubles setting. Siân Brooke, Martin McCann, Katherine Devlin, and Nathan Braniff lead the cast as newly qualified PSNI officers navigating the city's frontline policing. The series won Best Drama Series at the 2025 BAFTA Television Awards, beating out Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light, Supacell, and Sherwood.
