Bookish
Season 1
Mark Gatiss
Postwar London
Season 2 Renewed
Created by and starring Mark Gatiss, Bookish follows Gabriel Book, an antiquarian bookshop owner in 1946 London whose encyclopedic memory for literary and historical detail makes him an indispensable, if unconventional, police consultant. Woven through the weekly mysteries is the quieter story of Gabriel's marriage to his wife and childhood best friend Trottie, and his growing bond with Jack, a recently released young offender he hires to work in the shop. Season 2 premiered in the UK in August 2026, with a US premiere date still to come. A two-part Christmas special, Bookish: The Crown of Destiny, is coming in December 2026, and Series 3 has officially been commissioned for 2027. Bookish streams on PBS Masterpiece in the US — see British TV Hub's guide to where to watch British TV in the US.
